About Tommy
I consider myself one of the most fortunate people alive.
Not because life has been easy, but because I have learned to experience an ordinary life as an extraordinary gift.
Practice changed my life gradually.
For much of my life, my body and mind were organized around survival. I grew up with severe physical and emotional abuse and spent decades living with depression, fear, disconnection, and the effects of complex trauma.
Healing took many forms: talk and somatic therapy, grief, men’s work, meditation, movement, dance, touch, writing, relationship, and countless hours of practice.
What changed me was not a single insight or breakthrough. It was thousands of moments in which a little more feeling, contact, choice, and participation became possible.
People are not broken.
I believe human beings adapt intelligently to circumstances they could not otherwise endure. The same strategies that once protected us can eventually narrow our movement, feeling, relationships, and choices.
That understanding shapes how I work. I am not interested in overpowering protection, manufacturing breakthroughs, or imposing a formula. I pay attention, work collaboratively, and help create conditions in which a different response may become possible.
I bring the perspective of a massage therapist, coach, movement practitioner, writer, father, former data scientist, rock climber, and long-term student of embodied practice.
